Congressman Howard Coble’s vote last week for the Cyber Intelligence Sharing Protection Act, or CISPA, is yet another unsurprising example of the go-along-to-get-along crowd in Washington systematically disassembling Constitutional Rights, while granting more intrusive and sweeping government authority.
CISPA allows the federal government to monitor, and companies to share, your private Internet access and communications. They do so under the flag of protecting digital property rights.
By cooperating with companies like Google and Facebook, the federal government will have much-improved access to your private communications without your knowledge or consent. These same companies who share your information will be protected from litigation leaving little recourse for the citizen.
Do any of us really trust the federal government not to further abuse this already unconstitutional intrusive legislation?
For one, CISPA bypasses your fundamental 4th amendment rights by negating the need for a warrant to access your information on mere suspicion of intellectual property copyright violation.
Benjamin Franklin said those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.
This not-so-soft tyranny must be stopped. It must be reversed. We cannot expect anything to change by sending any insulated representative back to Washington who willfully undermines your rights.
Bill Flynn is a constitutional conservative. He is passionately dedicated to stop the erosion of your liberties. Bill is committed to reversing the trend of explosive federal government growth and authority, returning power to the states, and ultimately to the American citizen.
If you like Congressman Coble’s pro CISPA vote, his 19 debt ceiling increase votes, and his votes for bailouts and cash for clunkers, you need to vote to return him for another 2 years, to add to his 28 year stay in office.
But if you are like me, you know in your heart of hearts it is utterly essential to change Congress immediately. Our country is imperiled by weak republicans unable, or unwilling, to stand for what is right. We the People must be willing to change congress. And that means changing our congressman in district 6. Other districts across this state and country must do likewise.
I don’t ask you for 30 years in office as the congressman does. I ask for 2 years. Let this be the year we change to a new conservative constitutional firebrand voice for the 6th district.
I want your vote. I will work to reverse the trend of an ever-growing federal government. I will support efforts to redeem your American birthright of liberty and to shrink the reach and influence of a dangerously out-of-control federal government.
